Meeting the global demand for food, fiber and fuel is a key challenge for agriculture in the twenty-first century. By 2050 the world will have to feed and clothe 32% more people than we do now, without irreparable damage to ecosystems. The rapidly growing population, changing the climate, and limited land and fresh water resources will impact on the ability of agriculture to meet the demand. Science-based solutions are required to achieve these worldwide goals, and for industry and community development. Agricultural scientists are a profession in high demand and with high mobility.
